Registration & Accreditation

The Portland Hospital is registered with the Healthcare Commission who inspect us in all we do against their robust standards structure. Our latest Healthcare Commission report is from November 2005.

We have participated in and achieved the Health Quality Service accreditation scheme (formally Kings Fund Organisational Audit) since the 1990's which is an additional, voluntary accreditation.

Consultants using the Portland Hospital

Consultants have to apply for Practicing Privileges at The Portland Hospital.

Criteria they are required to meet include:

  • Consultant in NHS
  • GMC certificate
  • GMC specialist registration
  • Professional indemnity insurance
  • CRB clearance
  • Interview with CEO
  • Approval by Medical Advisory Committee of The Portland Hospital
